Now You Can Look Good, Feel Good and Do Good in What You Wear

Brooklyn, NY - A new online shopping destination for contemporary sustainable fashion has just launched its beta site. With 25 brands signed up, including Heidi Merrick, Allison Parris New York, Agave Denim and SkinnyJeans, Modavanti.comʼs mission is to promote the sustainable fashion movement by building an active community around a curated and social shopping experience.

Until now, there has been no recognized destination for the consumer who cares about where their clothes come from and how they are made to find fashion that fits their values without sacrificing on style. With Modavanti.com, that era is over -- now you can look good, feel good and do good.

SITE FEATURES
In addition to allowing users to search for apparel and accessories by type, designer and price, Modavanti.com  has developed a unique sustainability badge system. Visitors to Modavanti.com can also search for products  according to its eight-badge sustainability criteria: made in USA, organic, vegan, recycled/repurposed, energy  efficient, handmade, fair trade and eco-conscious.

Other site features include a My Closet function where users can curate collections and browse other “closets”; extensive designer profiles; a trends page and a regularly updated blog discussing the latest advances in  sustainable fashion.

Modavanti also donates 2% of every sale to one of three charitable partners: Charity Water, Nest and 19th Amendment. Charity Water brings clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations; Nest works  with artisan communities in poor villages around the world to help alleviate poverty and empower women; and 19th Amendment is a startup that aims to keep talented young American designers producing sustainably in the US.

THE FUTURE OF FASHION
2012 may go down as a watershed year in fashion as industry titans began to take responsibility for what they \ produce. Last year saw Zara commit to the use of toxic-free materials while H&M became the worldʼs largest  buyer of organic cotton.  But there is still a long way to go. Modavanti.com founder and CEO David Dietz says, “I feel we are at a ʻWright  Brothers momentʼ: everyone realizes that sustainability in fashion is something we want and need, but nobody  has yet figured out how to make it work. We believe that by emphasizing the quality of the fashion we can  persuade people that they donʼt have to choose between looking good and feeling good.”
