Beach Ready with Flawless

If you're following me on Instagram you will notice that since 2013, going to the beach and wearing bikinis are my favorite thing to do... until I gained 20 freaking pounds last year and maillots became my best friend. I don't know what happened, i love food and I've been really eating a lot ever since then I realized- AGING. Oh dear, I forgot I'm 23.


If you noticed my photos (@kattvaldez) from early this year, I wear one-piece more that bikinis because I'm hiding my size 28 tummy (eek!). Starting then, booked beach trips became my motivation and pressure. I started with portion diet and minimal workouts and thankfully last May, I already lost 8 lbs. Summer will forever be in my vocabulary that's why my beach trips doesn't end in May. Imagine the pressure when I thought layering season is on but i still have Palawan, Bali and Boracay lined up for June and July? I needed help and thankfully FLAWLESS was there to rescue me. First, visited their website to check their services.

The Shape and Sculpt service was then recommended to me. It's one of their services that uses ultrasound cavitation, radio frequency and interference frequency to blast localized fats and tone the muscles. You can just focus on one part of your body that you need to tone and of course, I had the process done in my tummy.


I visited their SM Makati branch because it's the nearest one from my house. I love how the staff are very accommodating to their clients and there's no fuss in waiting. Right when you enter the clinic, you'll see a wide range of products. I use the toner from the oil-control line and the nano whitening supplement. I don't have the actual photos of the process done to me but I took note of the changes. After the shape and sculpt session, I lost an inch measuring 27 to 26.

Here are some photos after getting the process done. It didn't only help in minimizing the size, they also toned my "abs" so I could look better in these two-piece bikinis! I'm very much satisfied and will definitely book more sessions. It's safe and it's the best incorporated with your diet and workout routine because your fats will continually burn even after the process.

The Other Side Of Boracay

I've been to Boracay six times already and until now, I still never get tired of its powdery white sands, turquoise waters and beautiful sunsets. Boracay has been known as an island that's far yet too close to Manila's crowd. I always go there during the crowded Labor Day Week with my friends but sometimes we tend to forget to appreciate it simply as a beautiful island. Last week, I got a chance to experience Boracay in another point of view.


Let me start off with Skyjet. It's my first time to fly with this airline and for me, it's the fastest way to Caticlan- it only took us 35 quick minutes from Manila. Skyjet also flies to Busuanga, Balesin and Basco with a free baggage check in allocation of 10 kilos, complimentary snacks  and my favorite, comfortable legroom!

8 Reasons Why I Keep Coming Back To Bali, Indonesia

People always ask me “Why are you always in Bali?”, “What do you do there?”, “Do you have a house in Bali?” “Are you migrating?”. Well, nope. I simply go there for vacation. It’s just that I believe that if you love something, go back for it. And if you can, go back to it every time you get the chance.


Bali is located in Indonesia, it’s not like the other countries I’ve been to like Korea, Singapore or Hong Kong where everything seems to be easy like commuting or going around the city. Most especially, it’s like the complete opposite of Jakarta. (Indonesia’s capital) So here we go, after three return trips to Bali I made a list about why I keep on coming back.

It’s basically cheap from food to transportation, the goods and even surf lessons! One meal is ranging from 35,000 IDR (120php) to 70,000 IDR (250php). Bottled water costs 5,000 IDR (17php). For transportation, you can even rent a car with driver for 350,000 IDR (1,200php) or 10 hours that’s already good for your whole group.

From ground-breaking performances, to their wild acts, and now a world tour running, these two gents have been storming each country with their addicting productions and this August, they are about to bring the party here to the Philippines! But before we see them live, here are a few trivial facts about a few of their tracks and how this duo came to be!


The Chainsmokers Pre-Performance Ritual
Before getting onto the stage, some artists have vocal warm ups and some sweat it out, but for this duo, it’s a different scenario. Imagine them having a few drinks (or a lot in a number of shows) before they turn the stage upside down, or punch each other in the face just to hype the party monsters in them. They also drown themselves with either steak or espressos to turn their bodies up for a massive and unforgettable moment upstage!  

The name “Chainsmokers” seemed clever.

Their name didn’t actually have any historical background or any sentimental meaning for them. Their name “Chainsmokers” was used just because it sounded clever for them and the domains were open. No one could’ve imagined that it would get this big and awesome for them, right? I mean, 443,792,938 views just for one track? How awesome could they get!

Before achieving the success they have now, The Chainsmokers used to upload their tracks in Soundcloud. It was a matter of expressing their musical passion and their intention to share it with the world.

You’ve been singing their track “Roses” wrong!
Their biggest track of 2015, “Roses,” was the anthem of every gathering you could think of! But do you honestly and wholeheartedly know the lyrics of that song? Well here are some lyrics you’ve been mistakenly hearing (or singing in the shower perhaps):

You would think this duo was in a long-term friendship… absolutely NOT.
Before all the music, the parties, and the mixing, they were total strangers to each other. According to a telephone interview they had with Up to the Sun, they were just introduced to each other by a friend of a friend. Whaaat?! Who would’ve thought that these two would be selling thousands of copies after just sharing the same passion for music! In the same interview, it was mentioned that Drew was mostly into pop tracks and Alex was the one DJing in New York but after two months of mashing mixes, they found themselves doing more legit tracks together!

A bookworm and a gameplayer come together!
When they’re not in the music scene, what do these two actually do with their lives? You would think they’d be out partying, living the night, or just doing random things with their friends but nope, not at all. These two have a different side that we don’t usually get to see! Alex is actually a bookworm who loves to read novels, while Drew on the other hand loves video games, well “Call of Duty” to be exact. Well isn’t that a surprise!

They take inspiration from anything and everything
These hitmakers do not pick and choose the kind of music they produce. As they say, a person born out of music produces the kind of music that inspires them. They have the passion for the art and this varies from different genres and music types. They wish to continue to evolve as performers and to be off inspiration as well to aspiring musicians.

OOTD with Huawei P9

As a blogger, taking photos of my daily outfits is a must. And it's not just what we do. We also attend events, work and study- that's why cameras are basically extra baggage for us. But recently, I discovered Huawei P9 and it's amazing feature: The Leica Camera. Knowing Leica camera, it's primarily associated with street photography most especially from mid up to 20th century that's used by renowned photographers. 

That's why this collaboration of Huawei with Leica is a savior for us bloggers who struggle everyday just to take photos with huge cameras. Sharing with you three of my outfits that are taken with Huawei P9.

The third is what I wore during a Sunday brunch with my blogger friends. We all agreed to ditch our cameras and use our Huawei P9's instead and guess what? We didn't regret it at all because aside from the lesser hassle, we got to play around more with its amazing features. I loved how the colors stood out in the photo without losing its focus to the subject.

As you can see, one of the best features of Huawei P9's camera that i love is the incredible clarity using laser focus and how it captures amazing photo qualities even in low-light. I also fell in love with its stylish and sleek design that I can bring them anywhere because it's a perfect accessory that could go with my OOTD's. As a blogger, this phone is a perfect daily essential!

Bali The Third Time Around (Photodiary)

I could've just spent my money to travel to another city but no one said it any better than the movie that inspired me the most to visit Bali for the third time, Eat Pray Love and according to Elizabeth Gilbert, "To travel is worth any cost and sacrifice". Yes, I've been there for the third time and it seemed like there's still something more to learn from this place. Let me take you to the other side of Bali, what’s away from the beaches and colorful perspective.

After spending more of my Bali days in Seminyak and Kuta, here is Ubud and Bedungul.
We stayed in Suarti Boutique Villagethat's located in Pengosekan Ubud. Our villas are surrounded with rice fields and coconut trees wherein you can really feel that you're one with nature and as always, we were treated like royalty during our stay. I really love how Balinese treats their guests, it's one of the best things about this island.

In these early twenties, a lady like me also still struggles to stand out alone. #RUSTANSBEAUTYADDICT

It was just early this year when I started my love for makeup because before, I only need a cheek tint and lipstick then I'm good to go. Months have passed when my collection started to grow, I perceived myself getting addicted to products with pretty packaging. I mean, who wouldn't love T. LeClerc's chic packaging?

When I got this package from Rustan's, I immediately fell in love, I already judged the book by its cover as they would say and guess what? That was precise! A lot of beauty addicts pledge by T. LeClerc's loose powder so there's no hesitation that I would do, too.

 Eyebrow Pencil, Lipstick and Powder Blush! Aren’t they beautiful? 

T. LeClerc Transparent Lipstick in Organza- The lipstick's texture is light with a mix of sheer and balm finish. I use matte lipsticks more but I can tell that this one's best for everyday, it doesn't make my lips feel dehydrated and flaky.

T. LeClerc Eyebrow Pencil in Chatain- With a crayon at one end and a brush at the other, these double-ended pencils are very easy to use, creating natural looking brows.

T. LeClerc Loose Powder in Banane- This one really blends well with my skin. To be frank, I've tried a lot of high-rated loose powders but I guess I’ll be sticking with this for a while. This shade is also perfect for Asians or Morenas like me.

Hair and Makeup Trend Update for the Season

It's been a while since I wrote a fashion-related blog post because I've been really clouded to which style I'll be sticking with this season and right now it's not just all about dressing up but finding the perfect makeup and hair trend- so that's what I’ll be focusing  on today. First off, make-up! If you're following me for the past years, you have an idea how I cannot leave the house without a red lipstick but right now I'm currently into nude or subtle brown tones matched with imperfect brows and intense contouring. Next is the hair trend which I just recently found out through "OFF THE PAGES"- it's my go-to channel for the latest beauty, lifestyle and fashion trends.

Guess what hairstyle it is? Braids! I know that this style could work on with my makeup and outfits. I've seen a lot of my favorite icons who have already donned different braids and I guess it's time for me to try it out :) As someone who has an ebullient personality and loves to go to the beach, I think this style suites me entirely. One example of a braid that I'm trying out is the multi-braids. I paired this with my favorite makeup look and easy outfit since I think that this hair trend is ideal for someone who doesn't know how to keep her hair in place a.k.a. ME!! :)

In sporting a look like this, I make sure that I have a vigorous and clean scalp. When a scalp is itchy and dry, this is a symptom of dandruff without even seeing actual dandruff/flakes. We always tend to prioritize skin care but forget about our scalp and according to research, only 17% of the people prioritize a healthy scalp while 56% prioritize healthy looking skin without realizing that SCALP IS SKIN TOO which also affects the growth of  healthy hair.

Doctor Strange

I’m not really a huge fan of superhero movies not unless it’s Marvel… I definitely wouldn’t want to miss this one out! Watching the trailer of Doctor Strange, I already found it a bit confusing, trippy and it’s like those kinds of films that you couldn’t tag me along to watch. But because it left me curious, I gave in and sat on it up to the second final credits.

The movie is basically about a Neurosurgeon named Doctor Stephen Strange who is self-centered, arrogant and conceited, someone who doesn’t believe in his co-workers’ capacity to do their job. In between all of his success, he got caught in a traumatic car accident that resulted to a grave damage to both of his hands leaving him useless in doing his job.

 I won’t spoil further but in the process of looking for cure, he found himself learning that the Earth is protected from other dimensions by a spell formed by the three Sanctums in New York, Hong Kong and London. The whole set up was trippy and I must say that this is the best movie that I’ve watched in IMAX, I highly recommend watching it 3D! The whole film amazingly felt like a ride in a theme park.

Each of the characters has their own outstanding roles that are well developed all throughout the plot. What I like about Marvel films is that they never forget to inject humor even in the most intense scenes.  All in all, I love the movie and I’ll give a 9/10! It’s never too late to catch this one!

Traveling to Bali & The Unusual Tourist Spots

Last October 25, 2016- I traveled back to Bali, Indonesia for the fourth time. Pressing the rewind button back to 19th of October, I have no notion that in less than a week, I'll be staying for twelve freaking days in my favorite island until Ave called me that Philippine Airlines booked a ticket for us. I got excited and low-key flustered because I have 5 days to prepare for everything. Good thing, I have 30kg baggage allowance so I could just toss my whole closet in my luggage! Now fast forward to the day of our flight. I met up with Ave at NAIA Terminal 2 for our 9pm flight.

I love flying with Philippine Airlines because I tend to have a decent sleep every time I travel with them. In the economy class, we have sufficient legroom to stay relaxed for the 4-hour flight.

Last is Nusa Penida. It's an island that's an hour boat away from Sanur, Bali. Too bad we only had a day to meander around so out of more than 10 spots, we got to visit 4 of them and left us in total awe. What if we visited all of them? Well at least I have a good reason to come back :)

 Nusa Penida is like Batanes and Coron's beauty combined in one huge island located in the South Eastern coast of Bali. Not only it's good for sight seeing, it's also best for diving.

I can’t believe that 2016 is about to end… Which means it’s Christmas Season! I bet everyone’s now busy running holiday errands and myself isn’t an exception. It could be very exhausting and the best reward anyone can think of for ourselves is a festive meal!

Last week, Vina and I slated our little catch up session because it’s been a while from the time when we had our much-needed girl talk. We decided to have lunch in Tokyo Tokyo because we heard that they have this exciting treat for everyone. Experience a festive yet affordable dinner for two with their Mt. Katsu Sumo Meal.

Family or friends can share Mt. Katsu- a heap Big Chicken Katsu topped with Teriyaki sauce, onion rings and Japansese mayo (this is so good!).

Also included in the set meal are 4 pieces prawn tempura, unlimited rice and two glasses of red iced tea, all for only P375. In our case, I guess a third person can share this meal with us haha.

You can still enjoy Mt. Katsu ala cart for only P189 if you’re alone and upgrade it to a Bento meal that consists drinks and sides for P244. I highly recommend for you to try it! Mt. Katsu is my new favorite meal in Tokyo Tokyo <3

Everyone knows how difficult it is for me to stay in one hair color. In the extent of three years, I've been mistreating my hair with endless bleaching and dyeing not until two months ago when I decided to go natural and just dye it with jet black. Jumping from one salon to another, I've experienced a lot of salon catastrophes that are related to my hair results but mostly, bad service. 

Few weeks back, I visited Styluxe Salon in Arya Residences, Bonifacio Global City to get some treatment for my hair before my flight to Bali. To give you a trace, my hair is indeed jet black but it's still bleached and damaged since I leaped from ash gray to the darkest tone. So basically, it's still dead and dry as hell.

Upon entering the salon, I already observed that it's not the typical salon that I always visit because I was greeted with superior hair products that suits for different hair dilemmas in diverse ages.

I was brought to the second floor where there are further space that are perfect for those who wants to get their hair done with their girl friends and a VIP room for those who wants privacy.

As someone who has experienced going to a lot of salons throughout Manila, I'd certainly visit again and go to Styluxe Salon frequently. Because aside from the excellence of the place, products and tools that are used, the team is focused on your concern up to the very end of the experience. These factors leave me no worries at all unlike my not-so-good previous experiences. I would recommend this to my friends!

Harper Hotel and Rustik Bistro (Bali, Indonesia)

Kuta is one of the most crowded places in the island of Bali, not only it is filled with people but it also never runs out with cafes and restaurants. I've stayed in this area few months back and I must say that this area is the most accessible. The modern hotel consists of 149 rooms that are infused with rustic charm right in the heart of Legian, it's also waling distance to Kuta beach.


Ave and I stayed in a 32 sqm-Deluxe room that has twin beds (those beds makes us hard to get up every morning for breakfast!!) and pool view.
